S is for Sid

In August, I stayed in the village of Ebbs in Austria for a weekend. In 1997, the mayor of Ebbs first organized a flower parade, the so-called Blumenkorso Ebbs. It's something I hadn't seen before. Many people work together to create large figures which are decorated with flowers. For Jenny's Alphabe-Thursday, I chose one figure -- Sid, the sloth from the Ice Age movies. The creators of this flower wagon called their creation Grass Age (instead of Ice Age).

Here's Sid with his lawn mower.

The sweet smile of friendly Sid.

Start of the parade.

Finally, on the way to enchant the masses.

  4. What a neat parade! As Sarah-Magnolia Surprise said, it reminded me of the Rose Bowl Parade.

Also loved the flowers on your border of your blog. I think those are thumbergia (sp?); my oldest daughter got me a plant like that a long while ago, and I just loved it.
