T is for Turbo

For Jenny's Alphabe-Thursday, you get to see more photos from the flower parade event in Ebbs, Austria which took place in August. It's Turbo, the hero of a DreamWorks Animation movie.

Turbo, a garden snail, gets the power of super-speed after a freak accident. That allows him to take part in a car race.

Q is for Queen of Austria

In August, I made an outing to Ebbs in Austria. It was the weekend of the flower parade. One of the figures showed the Queen of Austria -- the singer and drag queen Conchita Wurst.

So the Queen of Austria is my Q for Jenny's Alphabe-Thursday.

Here's a close-up of the beautiful flowers.

Orange -- Time for pumpkins

Color Your World's color of the month is orange. What better way to celebrate orange than showing you some pumpkin glory around the house.

I am looking forward to cooking these beauties.

These pumpkins grew in the garden.

I am happy to have so many this year.

In Ebbs, Austria I took some photos of pumpkins being sold at the side of the street.

So many varities.

A feast for the eyes.

Pumpkin heaven.

The color orange at its best.

For more orange delights, please check out the other Color Your World posts.

Pond

In August, I saw this lovely pond near Ebbs, Austria.

A duck couple was swimming in the pond.

They have chosen a good home.

Lots of pretty water lilies, too.

Have a great start into a great week!

S is for Sid

In August, I stayed in the village of Ebbs in Austria for a weekend. In 1997, the mayor of Ebbs first organized a flower parade, the so-called Blumenkorso Ebbs. It's something I hadn't seen before. Many people work together to create large figures which are decorated with flowers. For Jenny's Alphabe-Thursday, I chose one figure -- Sid, the sloth from the Ice Age movies. The creators of this flower wagon called their creation Grass Age (instead of Ice Age).

Here's Sid with his lawn mower.

The sweet smile of friendly Sid.

Start of the parade.

Finally, on the way to enchant the masses.

Advent calendar December 20 & an outing to Austria

First of all, the Advent calendar image for today:

It's the church in Hinterthiersee, a village near Kufstein in Austria. I took the photo on the way home from a visit with friends. We wanted to bring them some Christmas goodies before the holidays, so we seized this sunny day for an outing to Austria. Here's the view over Kufstein with its fortress:

Our friends have a new cat -- Sandy:

Our friend Lisi is a talented wood carver. She created those amazing crib figures:

On our Advent wreath there are four lit candles now -- it's really close to Christmas!

Early Snow, Thiersee & Fly

All of a sudden, fall has come. Now it seems that, all of a sudden, winter has come as well. When I woke up this morning, it was snowing. In fact, it has been snowing non-stop since then. It's too early in the season for the snow to stay on the ground for a longer time, yet it's undeniable snow. Here you see a photo of the flowerbed next to the terrace as well as the view of our neighbors' garden from my bathroom window. You should be able to make out the falling snow on the latter picture.

Last Sunday was a sunny, splendid fall day. We took the opportunity to visit friends in Austria. Below you see a photo of Thiersee, a lovely Austrian village.

This morning I made a digital collage using just my own photos -- the forest nearby, a butterfly from Pecos National Monument, and yours truly. I like the dreamlike quality about it.
