Welcome to Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday! Last week we had so much rain, but this week summer has finally come. Somehow that made me think of Regenschirme (umbrellas) and Sonnenschirme (sunshades). In German, there is one word (Schirm) for the thing which protects us from the elements (Regen = rain, Sonne = sun). Neat, huh? Anyway, here's my mom's favorite umbrella which she bought at an Italian street market.

Cute ducks.

She also bought an umbrella for me at the same market. Oh, she knows me well -- it's an umbrella in jeans color.

Then I have this tiny umbrella in a checked pattern which fits into every purse -- really handy!

It looks cute all opened up -- and it has a good size, too.

When Disney's Pocahontas was all the rage in the mid-1990s, I bought this umbrella.

Beautiful shades of blue and green -- really cheerful in the rain.

Oh, now that you have seen all those umbrellas, I have to show you two sunshades, too. After all, you need to be protected from all elements! The one below is as colorful as a bright summer day.

I also love the midnight blue sunshade. Somehow, it makes you feel cooler despite the hot summer sun.

I've always loved a colourful umbrella. You and your Mom have some great ones!
ReplyDeleteUmbrella really let you show your style, interest, and whimsy. Thanks for sharing your.
ReplyDeleteI really like your collection of umbrellas, the blue and white check is my favorite. So cheerful! Kathy

ReplyDeleteLove the denim and blue and white ginham check embrella's. So much nicer than my black or navy ones.
ReplyDeleteIt has rained just about eveyday here in Tennessee! I like the rainbow umbrella the best but the Disney ones are cute, what i really want are some of the flowered rubber boots! thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI adore the blue gingham umbrella.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I see neat umbrellas like this it makes me want to leave Arizona and move to Oregon or Washington State.
OK, sometimes when I look at the thermometer in the summer it makes me want to do that, too! But you didn't write about heatstroke!

ReplyDeleteI think just about everywhere there's been a lot of rain. Hopefully, it will be brightening up soon. I loved all your umbrella's. I think with umbrella's a person could really go out of their comfort zone with color if they are afraid of it. Great u post.
ReplyDeleteYou have some very pretty umbrellas. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletegood thing you told me they were ducks because at first I thought they were pretty butterflies. Maybe I need a little break from the screen tonight! But I am WAY behind on these posts and bound and determined to get through them before I start Saturday Centus.
ReplyDeleteI love umbrellas - I wish I owned a beautiful one - but I never spend the money on them - just window shop!

I love your umbrellas and I think it's amazing that you still have an umbrella from the nineties! Unfortunately, I am always losing mine-- or they get broken in a gust of wind!
