Happy Solstice! Today is the longest day of the year, even though it doesn't feel that way because it has been cold and rainy all day long. Anyway, next Saturday Sweden celebrates midsommar. Last Saturday Princess Victoria married her Daniel, and the local IKEA invited its guests to a piece of princess cake and cup of coffee.
I brought home a strawberry plant from IKEA.
For midsummer, you could make a flower wreath for a small fee at IKEA. Below you see the wreath my mom made.
This is my wreath.
This year I choose pink and some yellow flowers while last year's wreath was more colorful.
Of course, I had to wear the wreath for some time -- midsummer fun!
My wreath was definitely fuller than...
A final look at the flowers of my wreath.
They looked so pretty in the fading evening light.

Happy Solstice! Both wreaths are beautiful and you look very pretty wearing them.
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice!Your beautiful wreaths make perfect crowns- also in honor of the princess and her new prince. No Ikea near enough to take advantage of all that fun!
ReplyDeleteBirgit, as per usual, you have brought yourself so fully into our lives with your beautiful wreaths and your princess cake and coffee at IKEA, alas no IKEA in Aotearoa/New Zealand...yet! Although I did know the store in Sydney, well :)
ReplyDeleteHope your mother is well, her wreath is so beautiful.
Happy solstice from down under!
How great that you spent Solstice with your mom making wreaths and eating Princess cake! I definitely think that wreath is meant to be worn on your head - it looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOur Swedish friend has passed on, but our appreciation for the culture hasn't. It's another place on my list to visit!
How beautiful you look with your wreath on! Merry Litha to you, I'm glad you had this special time with your mom. Sorry for not stopping by for such a long time! :P
ReplyDeleteKisses from Nydia.
What a lovely way to spend the day with your mother. Happy Solstice to you my friend! Beautiful wreaths and photos.
ReplyDeleteThe Princess cake looks so good. And the wreath is beautifully done. I like your blog background of the butterflies, looking so summery and light. No luck with digital work, but am admiring the work of others.
