Munich's special carnival

Each year a special carnival comes to my hometown -- Oktoberfest or as locals call it -- Wiesn.

Food and beer is served in big, decorated tents.

A huge ox is roasting over the fire.

It's Norbert.

Here are parts of Norbert.

Dozens of waiters and waitresses help to make people happy.

The beer tents look swell from the outside, too.

Horses mingle with the crowd.

They pull magnificent wagons.

Little cupids show the way to a place everyone has to go to once in a while.

This beer tent wears a crown.

People from all over the world come together.

They love to have their photo taken next to one of the beer wagons.

Delicious nuts -- and, oh, the fragrance!

Beautiful flower bouquets.

Once again horses.

I wonder what they whisper to each other.

So much to see left and right.

You don't really know in which direction to look first.

A meal for a giant.

Another beer tent.

Wonderful music.

Beer for the thirsty crowd.

Attractions tempt everywhere.

Do you see the Ferris wheel in the background?

So many beer tents to visit.

Maybe you want to eat a soft pretzel?

Oh, horses again!

They wait so patiently.

The Bavaria watches over the Wiesn.

Simply majestic.

More culinary delights.

The magic will end on October 7.

Palm tree cups.

A castle.

Frisbee.

Here's the Ferris wheel again!

So very pretty.

Up, up, up!

"Next year I might be big enough to take that ride."

So many colorful carnival rides.

They all invite for a ride.

Wooden statues silently watch.

 

Do you want to have a balloon?

What about this wild carousel?

Maybe you crave chocolate-covered fruits?

What about a spin on the devil's wheel?

You could also stop at this booth for French fries...

... and Bratwurst.

Oh, look! What a colorful carnival ride!

How people scream when they fly through the air.

Here you can take a ride around Tegernsee (a lake near Munich).

 

 Kids have fun exploring a fairytale land with cute dwarfs.

A truly happy place.
