It's time again for Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday! The letter R has so many possibilities, but I simply had to choose one of my favorite animals this time. I haven't seen raccoons in the wild around here, but they live in other parts of Germany. However, a couple of them have their home in a wildlife park in Poing, a community not too far from Munich. I took the photos below in 2003 with my very first digital camera.
Walking back and forth in my (very large) cage.

Some magnets on my fridge. Well, I guess my magnets do reflect my love for the American West, huh?

What great raccoons! I like the photos and your collection.
ReplyDeleteYes, raccoons are adorable. Enjoyed your pictures!
ReplyDeleteRacoons are cute until they tear up your trash. Love your pictures of them. They do have cute innocent looking faces. :o)
ReplyDeleteCute photos and a nice post. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI've actually seen them and skunks and possums in the suburbs, just 15 miles south of San Francisco. However, all wildlife is getting less and less as the city encroaches!
ReplyDeletethey do have the cutest faces, don't they! Your pictures and raccoon collection are adorable!
ReplyDeletei'm with christy..they are adorable but they are really mean and quite the menace...we have a big problem in our neighborhood with racoons...and..they are really big...big like dogs!
ReplyDeleteRaccoons do have an adorable look about them. They look as if they could be a precious pet, but it's best to stick with the ones in your collection. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow cute thank you
ReplyDeleteI love your raccoon post, the photos are great. I sometimes see them in my backyard. Last year I saw a mother raccoon with her six babies in the tree behind my house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute post, and cute collection. Raccoons are adorable, we see them all the time here. As well as the mess they make when you don't secure your trash can lids :) We had a client that had one as a pet, do NOT recommend that, but he sure was cute. Kathy
ReplyDeleteRaccoons make for a very unique R post! I've never known anyone who collected them!!
ReplyDeleteOMG the picture of the one wanting out still has me smiling! Thanks for this cute post on Racoons, a side of them to love!!!

We have them where I live. They do look cute but you have to make sure you have your garbage can lids on tight LOL.
ReplyDeleteCute collection! Raccoons are such interesting animals. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'll take a stuffed raccoon any day, over a real one! They have such cute faces, but those claws are lethal - just ask Miss Rosie!

really sweet raccoons - love the last one :D
ReplyDeleteI grew up with racoon's in nebraska and colorado. Whenever we went camping the raccoons would get into our coolers and food. They are wonderful animals. Thanks for the great posting.
ReplyDeleteDon't they have the sweetest faces? I love watching mamas with their little families waddling behind them!
ReplyDeleteI'm always surprised by how long-legged raccoons are, when I catch them on the porch at night.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite out of your collection is the wooden one. Neat!
ReplyDeleteRaccoons are cute. My parents used to feed the young momma raccoon and her 6 baby fuzzwumps that came begging at the door.
ReplyDeleteThey are kind of a pest around here, but a very cute pest. The horses absolutely hate them. An old farmer told me once it's because they are in the same family as bears, so horses hate their smell. Not sure if that's true or not, he was a crazy old coot!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures!! Thanks so much for sharing...They are the cutest things!! :)
ReplyDeleteLoved all your photos. We have racoons roaming the city at night. Often when I step out on the deck I'll see one or two crossing our small backyard.
ReplyDeleteRaccoons are adorable. They can get in to all sorts of mischief and I still love them. Your collection is very fun.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Photos Brigit!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures - I love the wooden raccoon. We have them living around here but I have never yet seen one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on Foxy and her pansies on my blog Barb's Botanical Garden. If you haven't been by my Confessions Of The Unfaithful Widow blog stop by. More about rescue dogs. I am following you now. Love your blog. Love the racoons!
ReplyDeleteI love the wooden one! He is ace!
ReplyDeleteSweet raccoon pictures. We live in the middle of 10 wooded acres. We see raccoon tracks often but have not seen any yet in the 3 years we have lived here. But we have seen, skunks, fox, turkeys and deer. Great R post!
ReplyDeletethey are cute but boy, they can be trouble...they will rip apart a dog if cornered and they eat chickens....I do like them though, I had a pet raccoon that we raised from babyhood as a kid...She was a terror but fun.....
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun collection and interesting "furry" friends!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this surprising stop on my little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's Letter "R"!
And I really like your blog!
