Qualle? What kind of word is that? Well, it's German for jellyfish -- and my Q in Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday. Two years ago I visited Munich's Sea Life aquarium. There are lots of fish including jellyfish or Quallen (plural form).

So elegant.
Seeing the jellyfish float around was like watching a ballet dance.

My Q stems from a German word too - and there aren't that many!
ReplyDeleteGood Post Here's mine

Beautiful pictures on the jellyfish. Great Q word.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Q-word! And now we have established that it is alright to use words in other languages than only English, since some people have been using Latin and Native American Languages to find unsual words!
ReplyDelete(Otherwise, I am thinking of playing the Norwegian version of abc Wednesday!)
I like the sound and feel of "Qualle"- Great choice. Pretty pics too.
Best wishes,
Anna

ReplyDeleteThis is an elegant and different post on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's Letter "Q"!
Thank you for sharing it.
And thank you for participating.

gorgeous to watch. Not so nice to swim with.
ReplyDeletejellyfish are so beautiful, but so scary...nature is funny that way.
ReplyDeletethey are beautiful......
ReplyDeleteI love to watch the jellyfish dance! they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love this post, and what a crafty way to use a Q word. I worked for 10 years at a large aquarium. One of my research projects was to raise polyps and stimulate production of a small freshwater jellyfish species. At that time I was one of 3 or 4 folks that had ever done such. It was fun, although the powers that be decided that the adults were too small to make for an effective public display. Thank you for taking me back...Peace and blessings
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful floaty creatures they are. I have a friend who works for an aquarium in Canada and she works with jellyfish too (among other things).
ReplyDeleteI like hearing what things are called in other languages and those quallen are so lovely captured in the midst of their slow motion dance. Beautiful photographs and great post!
